Anchorage - Thursday, October 3, Friday, October 4 & Saturday, October 5, 2013

The commission met in the Legislative Information Office; all commissioners were in attendance.

Along with regular business, this meeting was to serve as a follow-up to the Federal Overreach Summit. The commission extended an invitation to the Alaska Federation of Natives, all regional Native Corporations and representatives from regional Native associations. There were two opportunities each day for the public to interact with meeting participants and to discuss issues related to federal land management in Alaska.

The commission also provided federal agencies (Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service) with dedicated time on the agenda to further advance the discussion. However, due to federal appropriation shortfalls causing a government shutdown, agency representatives were unable to attend. Thursday, October 3, was originally dedicated to federal agency participation but was adjusted to allow for discussion of a Draft Summary and action points identified at the Summit.
