Welcome to "Public Lands Minute"
"Public Lands Minute" is a 50-part radio series
produced in an educational public service format to inform Alaskans
about the diverse natural resources of the State and how the Department
of Natural Resources manages these state-owned resources. From the Department's
involvement in reindeer herding on the Seward Peninsula to their policy
on floathouses in Southeast, Alaska, the series covers a wide range
of topics. A unique blend of natural and man-made sound was mixed to
match the content of each program: over 270 different sounds were used
to produce the series! Each program is one minute in length and will
be aired on KUAC each Thursday morning at 8:49. The series was a collaborative effort produced with help from Department
staff in nearly every Division and from each regional office of the
state. Natural Resource Specialist, Roselynn Ressa Smith was the voice
talent and primary author of the program scripts with help from audio
producer, Kathy Turco of Alaska's Spirit Speaks: Sound and Science (www.alaska-spirit.com).
Kathy also provided high audio quality and sound variety in the production
of this series. Special thanks to previous Northern Regional Manager,
Harry Bader, all internal reviewers, A.J. Wait and Kahlil Wilson for
their voice talent in two programs and audio engineer Ed Smith for the
mixing and mastering of all programs. |
