Alaska State Land Surveys

When a decision to lease or conveyance of State-owned land is approved, an Alaska State Land Survey is required. The first step in the process is a written request for survey instructions to be issued. To be included in this letter:

  1. Your name and address
  2. The location of the land applied for, along with the ADL casefile number.
  3. The name and address of your surveyor. The surveyor is required to be a Professional Land Surveyor registered in Alaska.
  4. Survey Instruction fee of $225.

After the survey, plats must be submitted to the DNR Survey Unit for review. The review fee is $200 for the first parcel plus $50 for each additional parcel, tract or lot created by the survey. For a list of the survey fees covered by regulation, see this link.
