Alaska Trails Initiative

Prospective grant applicants, due to funding restrictions with the latest Alaska Trails Initiative (ATI) appropriation, grant funds will only be made available to previously awarded grant recipients and applicants. In the best interest of getting project dollars on the ground within the next fiscal year, and prior to mandated deadlines, this year’s ATI money will be distributed to projects that are already in progress and possess a significant need in continued funding.

If you have any questions regarding this funding, please contact the state trails coordinator Bill Luck at 269-8699.

Senator Stevens brings the Alaska Trails Initiative to Alaska for Trail funding. Competitive Alaska Trails Initiative grants are available for development and reconstruction of trails and related facilities.

The Alaska Trails Initiative grants are reviewed, scored and recommend for funding by the Outdoor Recreation and Trails Advisory Board (ORTAB). For additional information regarding ORTAB visit the following web site: ORTAB
