The Channel Islands State Marine Park Management |
|
Established in 2008, the Channel Islands State Marine Park consists of 14 islands, in Favorite Channel offshore of Juneau, Alaska, out to the 10-fathom bathymetric line. These Islands include: Aaron, Battleship, Benjamin, Bird, Coghlan, Cohen, Gull, Indian, Lincoln, North, Portland, Ralston, Suedla and a portion of Shelter. Recreation use of the marine park is extensive, given the proximity and easy access by boat from Juneau. Favorite uses include fishing, picnicking, camping, sightseeing, beachcombing, wildlife viewing, and hunting and trapping. There is one public use cabin on Shelter Island and numerous sites used for camping. Please check this website for updates. Project Timeline Highlights:
