Annual rental payments and recorded Affidavits of Annual Labor are due by Monday, Nov. 30, 2020.
In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, DNR is encouraging mining customers to take advantage of the many options for meeting this deadline remotely, and in accordance with current public health recommendations. This document details options for paying mining rents and recording mining documents from your home by the deadline.
While Nov. 30 remains a hard deadline for filing affidavits of labor, miners may take advantage of a DNR commissioner's order authorizing a nearly one-year extension of the deadline to pay rents and cash in lieu of labor, by filing a signed, written request with the Division of Mining, Land and Water no later than Nov. 30, 2020. The extension request must explain how the pandemic impacted your ability to pay rent or perform labor. It must also include, for each property for which an exemption is requested, the ADL number of the claim, leasehold location, and/or mining lease, as well as the name and current mailing address of the holder.
Continuing our service to the public while doing our part to protect our community members and employees is a top priority for the Department of Natural Resources. We thank you for your cooperation and consideration.
